I find this post very inspiring, especially because I am in the midst of a writers block stage. If it doesn't have to be a good novel, just a novel, then I think I can do it--just not this year.

True story -- one of our general requirements in college was a class called Pluralism, and it had an entire subsection that was devoted to analyzing Disney movies. Actually, it was more like the professors tore the movies and characters apart ... and the uproar that resulted was unreal. Talk about heated debates. The way you're analyzing the movies, though, it's so good and so helpful. As great as television and film are, their very nature doesn't usually lend itself to telling backstory and giving depth the way a novel does. Sure, there are exceptions, but getting the chance to really get into your characters' minds is one of the most priceless and rewarding parts of writing. I'm glad you found your inspiration for that and that it continues to be renewed :)

I JUST saw this movie. Like, just got back from the theater, opened my blogroll, and saw your post. And giggled.

This movie was everything I expected from a Disney movie. Pure happiness.

I, too, was obsessed with Disney princess movies as a child, and some small part of me still wants a glamorously sappy happy ending so much that I have every Disney princess movie on DVD. It's hard to let that part of you go, no matter how much reality tries to tell you that it isn't entirely possible.

"So obsessed was I with the Disney princess movie that in third grade, at age eight, I proclaimed before the entire class I wanted to be a Disney animator when I grew up."

So obsessed was *I* with the Disney princess movie that in kindergarten, at age six, I demanded that the entire class refer to me as Belle.

{headdesk}

Thankfully that only lasted a week.

I agree with a lot of what you've written here, about how Disney is a part of my soul, and probably led me, however directly or not, to becoming a writer. Go, Disney! :D

I've always been interested in NaNoWriMo but I've never taken the plunge. You are still accomplishing so much! I completely agree that it's better to fall a bit short of 50k than to have a few thousand useless words just to make count.

Exhaustingly optimistic is a good thing - and necessary in this whole crazy, emotional, wonderful writing rollercoaster :-) It sounds like things are going really, really well for you. I know the word count goal is a big part of NaNo, but being so in love with your characters, their world, and their story ... well, nothing can beat that. It wins every time.

Good luck with the rest of your writing!

Yaaaaah, sounds awesome! Haha, you know from my widget I'm not keeping pace (I don't think I've even hit 1 day's worth, lol) but then again, I'm not really playing. :P

(That said, I do need to pick up my pace a bit...)

November smells like productivity! Probably December will too!

LOL I had 41 when I went to bed last night. Not a great first day mark. Hopefully I can add to it tonight (but with Beth Hoffman's author reading, then Monday Night Football, not to mention some minor annoyances with my blog design, things are not looking good...).
