[Dramatic pause.]
I have a literary agent.
She is the marvelous Kate Schafer Testerman of kt literary. She loves my book. Giggle.
I am still not quite sure this is real.
The blogosphere would have me believe this is possible, that querying agents with a polished, revised manuscript will get you partial and full requests, which may — if you are devilishly lucky — lead to an offer of representation from someone as enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and kind as Kate. The blogosphere also led me to believe that I probably wouldn’t get an offer from any of my top agents. Apparently, and I say this grinning, this isn’t always the case. Not only do I now have an agent, but I’d ranked Kate as a top agent from the start and I queried her on the first day I started querying. Take that, odds!
The odds of this, however, are a bit staggering. I’m still in awe.
And this has happened… to me. I queried. I received the requests. I received the offer. I accepted. This is real.
I am so incredibly happy right now.
