The Newly-wed Life

Monday March 16, 2009

I’ve been MIA for the past while because of the wedding but I’m committed to being back and bloggier than ever!

So much has happened since my update post, most of which being The Wedding. March 7, 2009. I barely sat the entire day, instead zipping from nails to hair to lunch to makeup and dress to the venue itself. And the venue! The ceremony! It all went off without a hitch. The two of us had a terrific time and our guests seemed to have a marvelous time as well!

In the meantime, since the wedding, we started apartment hunting for a new 1 bedroom and we found a place that’s ironically (or conveniently?) just across the street and up the block a bit from our current studio. We’re moving this coming Saturday. Since we found this place we’ve been mattress shopping — yes, we’re going for a real bed and turning the futon into a proper couch — and we’ve been assessing our finances. Oh, what a process the assessment has been. As a result, I’ve got to get a part-time job. I’m looking forward to getting out of the house a few days a week, though, even if it’ll require a scheduling adjustment. I’m more determined than ever to finish my [most recent] draft and start the revision process soon.

Ah, the newly-wed life. Our honeymoon isn’t until May so things haven’t changed — though at the same time they’re changing a lot. My name, for instance, is legally different. But professionally I’m still your lovable E. F. Danehy. That adjustment is strange, though. Going to the SSA and sending in stuff to the Passport agency… officially forwarding our mail to the new place with both my maiden and married names… all sorts of stuff. On the one hand, it’s going to be useful, but because it’s so strange and new it’s still more weird and annoying than normal. For now. One day it will all feel normal. Perhaps? In the 21st century, though, no one has really expected me to change my name, so it’s a bit strange.

But for this week, things are probably going to be busy — packing up a studio is harder than you would initially believe. I have stuff miraculously crammed everywhere! To extract it all and re-box it is quite a challenge.

  1. Omigosh what an awesome/adorable wedding collage!!! Did you do that yourself?! I love it!

And yeah, I’m still not decided on name-changing if/when that day comes…

  2. Aww, you all look happy and blissful. You two make a cute couple indeed. Now I’m anxious about my wedding :P. I hope we turn out as happy as you two look. Happiness looks nice.
