It’s 8:20 as I begin this. Let’s see how far I get. (What with still having to get Bryan out the door and all — make him his sandwich, make sure he doesn’t forget the 5 or 6 things he may forget…)
First thing’s first, though: Tin Man was great. I didn’t mention this in the last post because I was too busy being self-effacing and guilt-ridden. But I really enjoyed it!
Anyway, Day 1 of the Great Plan to Make Erin A Productivity Machine failed miserably. I broke all three of my own rules — I napped, aka slept in, I hooked up the internet after I napped and proceeded to tool for a while, then I went out and did a bunch of errands until 3-something in the afternoon. Then I did housework until late. I ended up doing very little actual work. Not saying I didn’t get anything done — because I did! I finished the Christmas cards! — but really. That’s not writing, now is it? (I’ve decided Pier 1 doesn’t have anything good for any Christmas presents for anyone, sigh.) Just now, a burst of Christmas inspiration! I should get Bryan some casual button-down shirts from Old Navy.
Back to my original topic: yesterday my productivity was shot and negligible and sad and all of those things. Today, FreshDirect is coming between 10am and 12pm, making it necessary I be awake then, and I’ve had most of a cup of coffee, which prevents me from falling to sleep in any graceful way. (I bet I still could; I can sleep like that at this time of morning.) Today I will write. I did promise Bryan quite a few chapters for Christmas and I mean to get them to him. I’ll also read when I can’t write; I’m about 1/3 of the way through two different books: The Cup of the World by John Dickinson, which I read in high school but I’ve completely forgotten, and Cast in Secret, yet another Michelle Sagara book of the inexplicable fascination. Ooh! Time’s almost up — it’s 8:58am… What else… um. Yeah. So. Today — productivity. Woo.
