France v. Brazil

Saturday July 1, 2006

People are going nuts (screaming, singing, outside my window) about the World Cup match tonight — France against Brazil. Brazil has been expected to win overall, by many accounts, so tonight’s game is rather monumental. If I had television access, or had the guts to go to the bar I can hear outside my window, cheering every few moments… I’d be there. But being in a bar alone unnerves me. I’ll wait until I have a pack of Munich students before I become that brave, I think. (I’m still too used to being college-y. Haven’t yet been in Europe long enough to feel good about going alone.) I hope France wins though. Probably because I like the cheering more than anything. Booing isn’t fun to overhear.

I’ll post more later, with pictures of my day at Versailles and the Arc de Triomphe.
